heheh.

No, but I second Serious Eats and Kitchn; those are the two I have on my GoogleReader. Smitten Kitchen, again, is also awesome.

Hmm, I love Justhungry.com when I'm stretching my boundaries. Don't let lack of terminology knowledge keep you from trying things out. Your phone and your lappie work in the kitchen; if you can't call me, you and Google are friends!

Are there "cooking for dummies' type books? Annie has a good point in that it can be hard to follow a recipe if you don't know what 'saute' means or other cooking terminology. What about a class at your local JC or something similar?
Also, if you're in the store (TJ's?) and see an interesting item you might find a recipe on the package. Check Amazon for trader joe cookbooks? did I send you one for Christmas?

*taps fingers together*

Kitchn and Serious Eats. They're industrial-size blogs, but I think they'll serve you better than individual bloggers for frequency, depth, and breadth of content.

Kitchn especially focuses on meals for working people, things that are quick and easy. They post lots of links and mine their own archives for "what we liked last year". Plus they have recurring "how to boil water" features.

Serious Eats (plus Talk, which is like foodie AskMetafilter) also has easy type stuff, but is a good place for you to find deeper insights into foodie culture, and you can see what direction, if any, you really want to pursue. It will show you new/different ways to think about cooking. BUT don't feel you have to go off the deep end like a lot of the community.

these two sites will introduce you to individual bloggers you may like. (ie: when linked to a recipe you like, look at the most recent 10 posts on the blog and see if you like the overall style)

If you ignore my advice and go straight for individual blogs (I'm fond of smitten kitchen and amateur gourmet, and can linksurf from there for ages), you're still going to have to do a lot of sorting through stuff, and be willing to challenge yourself to cook beyond your known skillset.

Also, delicious is your friend. (the bookmark site, not the tasty adjective.) I use it to tag recipes as their dish type, and also with their main ingredients, plus a few key words, so I can group recipes of a particular cuisine, technique, difficulty, etc.

great photos of your strawberry disappearing!
Here's some yummy bread you could eat with a salad and have a meal.
Take a baguette and slice length wise in half. Spread butter (real butter is best) on both halfs and then lightly spread pesto over the butter. Thinly slice small, olive oil soaked, fresh mozerella onto the bread. put slices back together and wrap in tin foil. put in a 350 degree oven for about half an hour or until cheese is melty and stringy.
Any questions, write me!

I've heard from gardening people in my family (mom, aunts, grandma, etc) that strawberries should be propped up so as to not let it touch the dirt. They use rocks and such..

looks yummy!

Annie -- Not as sweet as some, but sweet enough. :)

Nicole -- It was a good start. Hope the others will turn out as good, or better!

Your strawberries are looking good!
How many pots do you have? Are you using any kind of fertilizer like Miracle Grow or something similar? Strawberries are trailing kind of plants so you may need to add some pots for all the new shooters that develop.
How's everything else?
